The Technology Advisory Group (TAG), comprising Proff Wynand Coetzer, Pieter Fourie, and Piet Steyn, acts in an advisory capacity to potential inventors, inventors and researchers.

Prof Wynand Coetzer An electronics engineer by profession, Wynand has an in-depth understanding of start-up ventures. Having written a book entitled Engineering Entrepreneurship, he became involved in the University again and now teaches entrepreneurship courses. He is also a business mentor for a number of small to medium size companies, providing him the opportunity to practice what he preaches In addition to his involvement in the TAG, Wynand also serves on the InnovUS Board of Directors. |

Prof Pieter Fourie After obtaining a degree in electrical engineering and working on computer-aided design of Gunn oscillators, Pieter obtained a degree in medicine followed by a PhD in Medical Physiology. He consequently trained as a specialist in paediatric medicine, and was appointed as an associate professor in medical physiology. He has acted as Director for the Bureau of Bioengineering (Stellenbosch University) and Director for both Harwill Medical and Mushroom Biomedical Systems. Prof Fourie has been appointed as extraordinary associate professor in Anaesthesiology and Critical Care at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Stellenbosch University. |

Prof Piet Steyn Piet, a bio-organic chemist, has extensive experience of research management. He was, among others, the founding director of the Division of Food Science and Technology (presently Biosciences) at the CSIR; head of the Department of Chemistry at Potchefstroom University and until recently Senior Director: Research at Stellenbosch University. Piet also contributed to the international science community as president of IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry), as president of the International Association of Cereal Science and Technology (Vienna, Austria), and as a member of ICSU (International Council for Science) committees in Paris, France. His contributions to science recently received recognition with the 2008 award of the NSTF (National Science and Technology Forum) in Category A for An outstanding contribution to Science, Engineering and Innovation over a lifetime, as well as with his election as Fellow of the Academy of Science of the Developing World (Trieste, Italy), and with his nomination as honorary member of the South African Chemical Institute (SACI) in 2009. |
