The minister of Agriculture, acting under section 20 of the Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) Act, 1997 (Act No. 15 of 1997), hereby
1. makes the regulations set out in the Schedule hereto (http://www.pub.ac.za/resources/docs/act_gmo1997.pdf); and
2. determines that the said regulations shall come into operation on 1 December 1999
Stellenbosch University (SU) does not have a GMO Policy, but it is expected from all SU Departments that perform research in the field of GMO to practice under the GMO Act No. 15 of 1997. GMO can be legally protected under the existing Intellectual Property Policy of SU, found on this website.
