Stellenbosch University startup BioCODE receives R7 million second grant from UTF

The University Technology Fund (UTF) recently made their second investment in BioCODE, a Stellenbosch University (SU) and Innovus startup that focuses on developing health and disease risk screening solutions. The UTF contributed R5 million and SU another R2 million as part of their partnership with the Fund. This investment will assist BioCODE to fund its current development of a rapid inflammation test that can be used as a screening and monitoring tool for inflammation and inflammatory conditions.   Biocode evolved through biosensor research collaboration between the Physiological Sciences Department and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. SARIMA Awards

Innovus won DSI-SARIMA award for Organisational Excellence in Innovation Management Stellenbosch University's Technology Transfer Office Innovus (TTO) has won the DSI-SARIMA Award for Organisational Excellence in Innovation Management. These awards were initiated in 2014 to celebrate excellence in research and innovation management in Southern Africa, and to encourage growth and achievement in the field. The 2021 award considers excellence and achievements in the previous year, 2020. Innovus celebrates SU’s entrepreneurs On 25 November, Innovus, Stellenbosch University’s Technology Transfer Office celebrated 27 entrepreneurs and inventors at the annual inventors awards ceremony co-sponsored with Von Seidels Intellectual Property attorneys. Apart from the special awards and patent awards, two new awards were introduced this year, vis-à-vis the copyright work with most commercial potential and the Plant Breeders rights with continued commercial income. Stellenbosch University startup BioCODE develops rapid test and laboratory platform for COVID-19 testing labs Stellenbosch University and Innovus startup BioCODE has developed a lab management software platform for research and pathology laboratories.
