WEF recognises SharkSafe as a top ocean innovator

SharkSafe Barrier™, an Innovus spinout company from Stellenbosch University, was recognised by the World Economic Forum's digital platform UpLink as one of its top ocean innovators.   UpLink, the WEF's digital platform for scaling innovation and driving progress toward sustainable development goals, unveiled its second cohort of ocean innovators on 22 January 2021. SU to issue its first short course e-certificates

For the first time, Stellenbosch University  will issue validated short course e-certificates this year, paving the way for others to follow suit. This initiative also saw SU receiving recognition by American Forest to have a beautiful tree planted in the name of the University. According to Carol Kat, head of copyright, trademarks and short courses at Innovus, the first short course e-certificates will be issued in the week of 15 February 2021. Stellenbosch University’s famous Matie Shop is now in the capable hands of Lara Cronje. She joined Innovus recently as shop manager both for the bricks and mortar shop and the newly-launched online shop www.matieshop.co.za. Meet Candice Verwey, the new administrative officer at Innovus’s intellectual property division.  Born and bred in the tiny town of Saron at the foot of the majestic Saronsberg between Porterville and Tulbagh, she had to leave this idyllic town to stand on her own feet after writing matric. Stellenbosch University LaunchLab’s newly-established SU Techpreneurship Centre (SU TPC) will be hosting its second Data Science, Machine Learning and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in July this year after the first cohort successfully completed the programme in March 2021.
