Commercialisation Project Manager
Lizane is always up for a new challenge. A gap year after school saw her packing her bags and au pairing in the Netherlands for a year, looking after three children and travelling through Europe whenever she had the opportunity. Upon returning from this adventure, she studied and started a career in nursing during which she worked as a midwife (an absolute passion) for a number of years in various public and private institutions. During this time, she was involved in many projects aimed at improvement of quality of care and efficiency in the different institutions. Her research on teenage pregnancy and maternity care was one of a kind in the country and she continues her efforts to present it as far and wide as possible to the research community in order to bring around understanding and change.
Seeking new challenges and opportunities, she made a career change and broadened her horizon by applying for a business degree where she discovered her entrepreneurial side and a new passion - business development. She started at Innovus as part of the strategic team and is involved in various commercialisation projects at the university. She holds a nursing degree (BCur), a Master’s degree in Nursing from UCT and completed an MBA at Stellenbosch’s Business School.
