Pitching Master Class

 
Innovus is hosting a 2-hour masterclass on pitching and idea validation to help entrepreneurial and innovative students with a powerful delivery of their ideas to their potential investor or customer. The masterclass is open to all SU students to attend free of charge, regardless of whether they are taking part in the SU Hackathon or not. 
 
 
Sologix, through Anton Pretorius, provides business consulting and coaching services on a face-to-face and online platform basis. The business model canvas developed by Strategyzer and the GrowthWheel online toolkit forms the basis to evaluate and improve on your business model. Through the development of a trust relationship we address the four critical aspects of the business, as defined by GrowthWheel, namely an attractive business concept, a sound organisation, lasting customer relations and profitable operations. 
 
Notable clients include Sarebi, Innovus, TuksNovation, the Innovation Hub and a number of privately owned small to medium sized enterprises. Anton has close on 25 years of business experience in a diverse range of disciplines and industries. ​​Anton is also a mentor with the AllanGrayOrbis Foundation. ​
 
Innovus is Stellenbosch University’s university-industry interaction platform for the commercialisation of SU’s assets. Innovus is responsible for the university’s commercial activities. This includes the commercialisation of the University's innovation and intellectual property portfolio through patenting, licensing and the formation of spin-out companies. ​

Stellenbosch University Entrepreneurship Bootcamp

When: 9-10 September 2019 
A ‘bootcamp’ is where, traditionally, you go to have the basics drilled into you. Our entrepreneurial bootcamp is no different. It was designed to ensure that budding student entrepreneurs understand the fundamentals of business-building, and how to apply them effectively. This 2-day workshop runs entrepreneurs-to-be through two of the key success tools, the Business Model Canvas and the Growth Wheel, and shares first-hand experiences from entrepreneurs on the life and challenges of growing something out of nothing.

Student Entrepreneurship Week SEW2019

When: 5 – 9 August 2019
SEW2019 is for students who want to become employers, rather than employees. Here’s your chance to learn more about entrepreneurship and get an introduction to entrepreneurship skills. Look out for Innovus and the LaunchLab in the Neelsie and other places around campus during this week to find out more about what it takes to become the an entrepreneur and the rewards and challenges associated.

 

Stellenbosch University Hackathon

The Stellenbosch University Hackathon is a Hackathon is a collaboration between Innovus, The Launchlab and Industry. The hackathon gets talented student programmers, designers, data scientists, builders and engineers to come together to share creatives ideas and learn from industry to build and pitch an innovative solution to an industry-relevant problem. Innovus Monthly Pitching Session

When: Last Friday of every month
If you are a Stellenbosch University student and have a concept that you think is worthy of sharing and need some help to validate it or possibly take it further, please remember that Innovus hosts Pitching Sessions on the last Friday of every month. Come and throw your idea up in front of us, and let’s see what sticks! Speak to your SRC entrepreneurship and innovation rep, Marine Bothma (mbothma@sun.ac.za), to find out how you can book a spot at the next pitching session.

 

LaunchLab Student IdeaSmash

When: March 2019 – May 2019
LaunchLab’s Student IdeaSmash is intended primarily to be for early-stage business concepts, prototypes and businesses from SU students looking to validate their concepts or improve their technology offering to their market and gain traction for the solution they are currently working on. Finalists get to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and stand a chance of winning a cash prize to help take their idea further.
